Kala Sangam Art Academy

Meaning “peace” in Arabic, this exhibition was a celebration of calligraphy as a unifying art form. Showcasing a collection of glass-painted vases, the pieces beautifully merged traditional Arabic scripts with modern contemporary designs, creating a dynamic and meaningful display.

Arabic Calligraphy launch

Kala Sangam Art Academy

April 2012

Marking the unveiling of a refreshed national South Asian arts centre, this exhibition featured five tall mixed-media canvases that blended Arabic calligraphy with paisley, mosaic, henna, and geometric designs. Alongside these, a collection of glass-painted vases showcased intricate Arabic calligraphy and South Asian henna motifs. The centrepiece—a repurposed Ikea gloss unit door—was richly embellished with mirrors, beads, and sequins, creating a striking fusion of tradition and contemporary artistry.
